With a number of successfully completed commissions within Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Conservation Areas or involving structures with listed building status, Alan Leather Associates were recognised as being winners of 'Domestic Buildings - new work - 1998'. This was awarded jointly by the Royal Institute of British Architects and the 'Council for the Protection of Rural England' as a result of our development within the Georgian port of Charlestown, Cornwall.
Being based in a two hundred year old building in the heart of a conservation area has helped to give us a particular insight into the delivery of sympathetic buildings. We work extensively with historic building specialists balancing the aims of conservation with the necessities of progress.
Albert Quay, Fowey
Recent awards include one from Civic Trust for a quayside dwelling in the heart of Fowey Cornwall, carefully developed to make a modern statement but reflecting the conservation area in which it sits.
Our urban and rural planning skills have become invaluable in recent years with increasing involvement in regeneration projects.
